Dr. Glade arrived safely to Ethiopia with five other members of the Free to Smile team. Two others were delayed delayed because of cancelled flights. The Cure Hospital in Addis Adaba was very well organized and had 31 cleft children ready to be screened and scheduled for surgery. We are also expecting 3-4 more children to arrive during the week. It was a special treat to see two of the first children scheduled for bilateral cleft palates! They were repaired by the team on previous visits to Ethiopia. Surgery starts bright and early tomorrow.
Liya had a wide bilateral (both sides) cleft lip repaired by Dr. Glade in September of 2016. He returned in April of 2018 to have his palate repaired.
